GLITZ AND glam rhymed in perfect harmony with local GAA icons at the Radisson Hotel last Friday.
The 2012 Sligo Champion/Sligo GAA Club All Stars were in full glow for a sparkling night of extravagant celebration.
Over 300 guests turned up to hail the senior and intermediate teams on what was one of the social highlights of the year.
Organised by the Sligo Champion and Sligo County Board, with the support of AIB, the awards scheme pays tribute to the best club players in the county.
The Intermediate team was revealed two weeks ago but the make-up of the senior side was a closely guarded secret until it was revealed at Friday's ceremony.
And there was an air of giddy excitement and breathless anticipation as MC, Michael O'Domhnaill from TG4, disclosed the names of the players for each of the fifteen positions.
On hand to make the presentations to the two teams were Jenny McCudden, Editor, Sligo Champion; Leo Gray, Sports Editor, Sligo Champion; Cyril Feehily, County Board PRO; Peter Greene, AIB; and Fran Faulkner, AIB.
Curry, the County Champions, were sizzling hot, picking up seven of the senior awards.
And there were double celebrations for one of the Curry stars, Adrian Marren, who was also named as the Player of the Year.
It was the perfect end to a memorable year for Adrian, who had his own special match of the day with his bride, Fiona, just a few weeks ago.
He said: "Winning the county championship, getting an All Star and Player of the Year award and getting married all in the one year. "It doesn't get much better." The Intermediate player of the year award went to Bunninadden's Padraig Doohan while Coolaney/Mullinabreena stalwart, John Brennan, picked up the Hall of Fame award.
