The Sligo County Board held their AGM on Thursday November 29th in the Embassy Rooms, Sligo. Louise Lavin from Geevagh was re-elected as Chairperson and we wish her continued success in her post. 2012 was a successful year for Ladies Gaelic Football in the county with honors being awarded to the County U14 Team who were Group C All Ireland Championship Runner-up, The U16 team were Group B Connacht Champions, the Minors were Group B Runner up in the Connacht Championship while the Ladies Intermediate team were Connacht Champions. The titles awarded are a credit to the players for all their hard work and commitment and to the managers for their time and expertise in driving the teams to success. Well done to all involved.
As the various teams had such success in 2012 there is a presentation night being organised to honor the players and the management. This is being held in the Clarion Hotel, Sligo on 19th January starting at 7.30pm. A full 3 course meal with entertainment is planned with tickets costing €25 for adults and €15 for all players receiving medals. The Sligo Ladies have the following fundraising events coming up over the next few weeks. On the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd of December the Ladies have acquired a permit for a County wide Church Gate collection. There will be representatives at the Churches around the County during those days if you are in attendance please support the association. On Friday January 4th a Table Quiz has been organised in Shenanigan's Bar, Sligo. Teams of 4 with a 9pm starting time and a €10.00 per person entry fee.
The next County Board meeting is due to be held on 14th January 2013 at 8pm in Embassy Rooms, Sligo. All club delegates to attend where possible.
