The winner with a great score of 24pts was John McCarrick with birdies on the 3rd 5th and 6th in 2nd place was Paul O'Reilly on 20pts 3rd place went to Martin McGettrick on 19 pts Competition on Sunday 14th October was a 9 Hole Stableford the winner with a fantastic score of 25pts was Sean Henry who went around in 1 over par 2nd place went to the ever consistent Paul O'Reilly on 20pts 3rd place went to Liam Dennedy on 18pts . Competition on Saturday/Sunday 20th/21st October is a 9 Hole Stableford Re-Entry
THE SECOND round of the Winter League took place last weekend with Jim Mooney and Pat Brogan leading the way with 85pts, 2nd Michael Keville and Michael Bermingham 84pts, 3rd Mick Moran & Ted Hestor, Tom Gallagher & Michael Rushe both 82pts. Final round next weekend and with both scores to count the competition is wide open. There will also be a nine hole competition next Saturday and Sunday.
The fundraiser for John Brehony continues until next Saturday. If anyone looking for partners please contact Michael Keville. Members unable to play can make a donation if they wish. All support appreciated for this worthy cause. The October draw took place last Sunday evening. It's coming to that time of year again. This year's Winter League will commence on Sunday 11th November 2012. We are delighted to announce that The Strandhill Suites & Lodge will be sponsoring this year's event. Non-members, who have a GUI card, can enter this year's competition. A presentation took place on the same night to the victorious Jack O Sullivan team who beat Ballinasloe in the final having overcome Connemara Isles in the semi-final .
The captain of the team Michael Phelan presented the winning pennant to the club captain Pat Collins.
The members of the 2012 team were Gerry Fox, Jim Branley, Darragh O'Sullivan, Jimmy Glynn, Gavin Phelan, Cedric Rousille, John O'Donoghue, Brian Henry, Anthony Skeffington, Paul Cox, Chris Kilcullen, Ronnie Conlon, Dessie Timbs, David Lynsey.Declan Basquile and Jim Coyne assisted Michael Phelan as his vice captains.

After a very exciting finish the result came down to the very last competition of the year with Mary Kennedy emerging as the victor.
During a year that was very e difficult for golfer because of the weather it was still all to play for in the final sunday of the competition. Well done to all the competitors during the year. The Golf er of the year is sponsored by Halligan architects Charlestown.
It was decided that the birdie tree would follow the categories laid down by CONGUE and award birdies based on player ability . Therefore the winners are Category 5 Marie O'Hare, Caterory 4 is divided between Ann Conlon and Kathleen Morrisroe , Category 3 Kathleen Grady
Senior Ladies The senior ladies meet every Tuesday at 11 a.m. New members are always welcome. The junior girls will meet during the mid-term break. Notice regarding it will be posted in the locker room.
The ladies committee would like to thank all who participated and prepared the fashion show. A large sum of money will be given to the management committe as a result. Presentation of prizes the next presentation of prizes wil be held on Sunday 25th October

SUNDAY OCT 5ths competition was the Murphy Perpetual Cup and weather conditions were perfect for good golf and the scores proved that.1st Place was Michael Larkin with 37 points,2nd Place was Dillion craig (Junior) with 38 points,3rd place was Tommy Clarke with 36 points,
The final of the Rodger Mc Carrick Singles Competition took place on Sunday 14th with Joey Wimsey and Fergus Marren facing off. It was a great final with Joey winning the first three holes but Fergus slowly catching up and closing the competition on the 17th Hole.
The final of the Scanlon Insurance Doubles also took place on Sunday 14th with the young pair of Damian Keenan and John Brennan hoping to hold off Tony Hession and Christy Wimsey. Unfortunately even those two superb golfers were no match for the Hession/Wimsey combination with the game being decided on the 17th as well. Congratulation to Fergus, Christy and Tony on their great golf.
