IN THE New Year, the Family Resource Centre in Tubbercurry will be 15 years old.
From the outset, the project has worked with the local community in providing support to families, individuals and community organisations.
Today the FRC is located on Mountain Road.
It is open to everyone in the community, from new born babies and their parents to retired people looking to learn new skills on the computer.
It is open from 8 o'clock each morning Monday to Friday for its childcare project.
From 9am until 9pm most evenings, the in FRC has a variety of programs.
The building itself has a multi-use room which is used by different groups, three small meeting rooms which are used for education counselling and family supports.
It has a computer suit and a coffee dock on the upper level with childcare for children aged 16 months to 5 years of age on the lower level.
The variety of activities provided in the centre range from person centred counselling, rainbows program for children who have suffered a loss or bereavement, youth programs, men's shed project, parent and toddler groups, well baby clinics, yoga classes, boxing classes, art and crafts projects, adult literacy supports, special needs supports, children summer camps, bike camp for children, computer classes, boccia club, to summer activities such as hill walking, canoeing and mountain biking.
As the New Year approaches, the Centre will be offering a number of programs to the community. If there are enough interest, there will be a walking and jogging group for all levels of fitness, computer classes for beginners up to more advance levels, art classes, additional parenting courses, more road safety events and out of school camps and activities programs.
