GAA CLUBS in the county have been urged to ensure greater participation in Scor and Scor na nOg competitions.
Speaking at the annual GAA Convention, Outgoing Secretary, Padraig Duffy, said a very dedicated Scor committee were putting in a huge effort to increase participation in their competitions and they deserved the support of clubs throughout the county.
It was one of the Association's aims to promote culturural aspects of the GAA, including the Irish language, traditional Irish dancing, music, song and other aspects of Irish culture, Mr. Duffy pointed out.
He said Scor gave every club an opportunity to support this objective and he urged clubs to promote what was unique to our county and our traditions.
The Outgoing Secretary thanked the McHale family, Calry, for donating the Teresa McHale Memorial Cup to the County Scor Committee. The late Teresa represented her club, Calry/St Joseph's and the county at the Connacht finals of Scor in 2009.
Convention congratulated Niamh Farrell, St. Mary's, on winning the All Ireland Senior Scor title in solo singing in 2012.
