THE GAA Club All Stars scheme, sponsored by The Sligo Champion in association with AIB and Sligo County Board, proved a major fund raiser last year.
Outgoing Joint Treasurer, Joe Queenan, told the annual GAA Convention that the gala awards function at the Radisson Hotel in November made a profit of €4,500.
The scheme honours players on the basis of performances in the club championships. Two teams - one in each of the senior and intermediate grades - were honoured in 2012.
The President of the County Board, John Higgins, said the All Stars awards were an honour richly deserved by club players.
He thanked the Sligo Champion, the County Board and AIB for organising the scheme and the gala banquet.
Outgoing County Secretary, Padraig Duffy, said all those involved in organising the scheme deserved congratulations.
He recalled that the presentation function was a gala occasion and wonderful success.
He congratulated the thirty players who were chosen on the senior and intermediate teams and the players of the year, Adrian Marren (senior) and Padraig Doohan (intermediate)
Mr. Duffy said the choice of former Sligo full-back, John Brennan, as the recipient of the Hall of Fame award was met with unanimous approval
