COUNTY BOARD President, Mr. John Higgins, has described the newly published Sligo GAA Strategic Plan as a "road map" for the development of Gaelic Games in the county.
Launching the document at last week's annual GAA Convention in the Radisson Hotel, Mr. Higgins said the plan contained many innovative ideas and he was sure it would point the way forward for the GAA in the county.
He praised those who had put so much time and effort into preparing the document and he appealed to clubs to give it their wholehearted support.
"It is a brilliant document and if we stick to its propsosals, I am sure that we will have a very successful future", said Mr. Higgins.
"I know that these are difficult times but we have come through tough times before and if we all put our shoulder to the wheel, there is no limit to what can be achieved", he added. The document, which covers the period from 2011 to 2016, includes a range of proposals relating to the governence of Sligo GAA, finance and funding, development of the Centre of Excellence, fixture planning, education, communication and IT, planning and development, referee development and coaching and games development strategy
