THE Friends of Sligo Regional Hospital are Sligo Rovers' charity partner for the 2014 season.
The charity benefits a catchment population comprising of Sligo town and county, South Donegal and Leitrim, areas home to thousands of Sligo Rovers supporters.
"Last year Rovers association with the MS Therapy Centre directly raised over €4,200 thanks to the generosity of supporters and stakeholders at Sligo Rovers.
"We hope to have an even bigger impact with the hospital group," said Rovers Chairman, Dermot Kelly. "Over the coming year Sligo Rovers will assist their work, publicise their fundraising events and be present to make as much a difference as we can."
Gerry McManus, chairperson of Sligo Regional Hospital, said they wholeheartedly appreciated and welcomed the relationship with Sligo Rovers.
"We aim to raise the profile of the Hospital's services and also provide medical equipment, facilities, services and patient comforts which would not otherwise be available from ordinary HSE funds. Monies raised by fundraising initiatives in the community are dedicated to those services in most need and yield the greatest benefits and the support of Sligo Rovers will be a major boost to us."
Rovers manager Ian Baraclough said the club was privileged to support such a worthwhile charity in the greater Sligo community. The registered charity was chosen from a high number of applicants and Sligo Rovers thank all charities that expressed interest.
