SLIGO'S INVOLVEMENT in the world handball championships ended on Saturday when Ballymote's Francis McCann was defeated by the number 1 seed Paul Williams from the U.S.A by 2-1 in the quarter finals of the Golden Masters A singles one wall event.
Castleconnor's Oisin Quinn teamed up with Joacquin Murphy as the duo reached the semi-finals of the Golden Masters one-wall doubles. Quinn & Murphy were beaten by the number 3 seeds in Conor McDonnell & Cormac McMahon (Monaghan/Armagh) by 2 games to 1.

Antrim's Aisling Reilly defeated clubmate Fiona Shannon to win her 1st ladies open singles denying Shannon in her place in history of winning 4 ladies singles titles in a row.
