THE SLIGO junior team captured the Connaught Cup in stylish fashion in Claremorris.
The team was primed with some of the best doubles players in the club - Ann Longworth, Ger Lowry, Noreen Cassidy (captain), Keith Hopkins, Conor Caheny, and Steve Cunningham were in tremendous form winding down the 2012 season with a momentous win winning 11 out of 12 doubles matches.
The tournament was made up of players from Galway, Claremorris, Ballina, Manorhamilton, and Sligo. Sligo won out strongly in the end taking all of their three matches in the Final. The pairings of Keith and Conor, Steve and Ann, and Ger and Noreen were incredibly strong . The team thanked the recent valuable coaching from club coach Alan Mc Cormack, and this victory is sure to make Alan even busier as players strive to improve during the winter.
The newly formed Doubles challenge ladder is up and going and is proving a great success with some very good matches in this new event. Sligo and Manorhamilton Clubs will have a joint tournament on Saturday 10th November.
The magnificent seven participated in the annual Mens' Quadrangular event in Irvins town Tennis Club on Saturday last.
