ON A busy week-end for athletics, Danny Hannon, Sligo AC, produced an impressive performance to win the Cos Cos 8k festival run at Rathcormac in a time of 29.29.
Fergal Henry, Sligo Tri Club, was second with Paul McDermott in third place. The first female runner home was Catrherine Nestor.
Meanwhile, there was a huge turn out for the Coney Island Challenge on Saturday. Tom Cullen took the honours here in a time of 32.48 with Derek Hunter taking second place. Third home was Damien McSharry.
The County Sligo Cross Country Championships were also on at the week-end, with a great turn out at Oxfield.
The girls U.10 800m was won by Amy Deering, Sligo AC, with Canice Mulligan, Tirreragh AC, taking the U.10 800m.
Kedron Fallon, North Sligo, was the winner of the girls U.11 while Eoin Carty won the boys U.11
In the girls U.12 race, Ailbhe Morgan, Sligo AC, came home in first place while the boys U.12 race went to Michael Kerins, North Sligo AC
Aoife Morris, Sligo AC, won the Girls U.13 race with Colm McBrien, North Sligo, taking the honours in the boys U,.13 race.
The girls U.15 race was won by Caelainn McGonnigle, Sligo AC, while Darragh Kelly, North Sligo was first home int he boys U.15
Sorcha Fallon, North Sligo, took the honours in the girls U.17 with Sligo AC's, Oisin Harney, Sligo AC coming home in first place in the Boys U.17 raes.
The Girls U.19 race went to Orla Mulvihill, Sligo AC, while Donal Kilcullen, Tireragh AC, won the Boys U.19 race.
