BALLYMOTE -- COMPETITION ON Sunday 15th July was a 18 Hole Stableford
There was a good turnout of members and scoring was very good the winner with a fine score of 42pts and who is playing brilliant golf at the moment was Paul O'Reilly with birdies on the 3rd, 6th, 10th and 14th in 2nd place with a fine score of 41pts was Greg Clarke 3rd place went to John McCarrick on 38pts
Competition on Wednesday 11th July was a 9 Hole Stableford Open Competition in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland there was a great turnout of members and visitors and the day went off very well the winners in the Men's Competition were as follows 1st place went to the man in form at the moment Paul O'Reilly on 20pts 2nd place to Bertie Scully on 19pts 3rd place to John Owens on 17pts the Ladies Competition was won by Mary Kennedy on 20pts 2nd on 19pts Mary Golden 3rd on 19pts was Maura O'Reilly Great credit is extended to Lady Captain Carmel McGettrick on putting a lot of work in organising the Competition
There will be a Seniors Open Competition on Thursday 19th July for the Connacht Gold Cup Nett prizes for first, second, and third Category Prizes, Category 1 55-60 years 1st and 2nd, Category 2 6165 1st and 2nd Category 3 66-70 years. Competition on Saturday/Sunday 21st/22nd July is a 18 Hole Stableford kindly sponsored by John Lavins Menswear Lord Edward Street Ballymote
Presentation of prizes for May and June Competitions will take place on Sunday 22nd July in John Doddy's at 9 0'Clock
CHARITY DAY held wednesday 11th July was well supported by members and neighbouring clubs. Winners on the day 1st. Mary Kennedy 20pts. 2nd. Mary Golden 19 pts. 3rd, Maura O,Reilly 19 pts. Wednesday 18th is an 18 hole stableford sponsor McDonagh Electric Ballymote.
OPEN WEEK was a great success with large numbers of locals and visitors playing each day. Special thanks to all our sponsors who supported us so generously. Tuesday Ladies 18 hole was won by Joyce Boles 69, 2nd Attracta Keville 69, Gross Liz Dwyer, 3rd, Phil Emmet. 1st Nine Sandra McCrann, 2nd Nine Peggy Feely, Visitor Kathleen Grady. The Mens nine hole was won by Lewis Shaw 23pts, 2nd Michael Keville 22pts, 3rd Michael Gilmartin 22pts, Visitor Michael Masterson. Wednesdays Scotch Foursomes was won by Niall Sweeney & Ann Campbell (Carrick-on Shannon), 2nd Sean Heslin & Sandra McCrann, 3rd Michael McHale & Moira Egan. Thursday Mens 18 Hole Stroke was won by Donal Smith 54, 2nd Lewis Shaw 60, Gross Gary Carty, 3rd Michael Keville 63, Visitor John McGuinn. The Ladies Nine Hole was won by Phil Emmet, 2nd Joey Mullaney. Fridays Mens Nine Hole was won by Patrick Egan, 2nd Liam Mullaney, 3rd Paddy Nangle, Visitor Paddy Egan. The Ladies Nine Hole was won by Phil Emmet, 2nd Tish Perry, 3rd Moira Egan; Visitor Ann Neary.Saturdays Rumble was won by Terry Canning, Michael Keville and Tom Rochford with 99pts, 2nd Patrick Egan, Adrian King & Lorcan Egan 93pts, 3rd Brendan Gaffney, Michael Gaffney & Gary Carty 93pts. Sundays 18 hole stroke was won by Adrian King 59pts, 2nd Dylan Beirne 62pts, Gross Gary Carty, 3rd Martin Wynne 65pts, Visitor Derek Nolan. Ladies 18 Hole was won by Phil Emmet, 2nd Tish Perry, Gross Liz Dwyer, 3rd Joey Mullaney. At the final presentation Captains Michael Simon and Moira Egan thanked everyone for their great support for open week. They specially thanked all the sponsors for their generosity and thanked all those who helped organised. Charlie was thanked for the great condition of the course along with the volunteers Willie Tiernan, Michael Rushe & Michael Corrigan. A special presentation was made to Michael Keville in appreciation for great work he did in both organising the competitions and the prizes. Mary McDermot was thanked for her excellent hospitality during the week and Daniel and Bernard were thanked for looking after the bar. Liam Mullaney was also thanked for his great support.
In Inter Club news commiserations to our Jack O'Sullivan Team who were beaten by Ballinamore last Thursday.
The Club exgtend sympathy to Liam Whyte on the death of his father Bill White.
Competitions for this week are the Mens competition on Thursday, Friday evening is social golf with a nine hole scramble. Next Sunday is the Presidents Prize and we send best wishes to Pat Conroy for a great day. Timesheet is on noticeboard. Presentation of prizes will take place at 10pm in the club house, Music on the night. Date for your diary is the Captains Prize on Sunday August 5th.

On Saturday last, the Castle Dargan Golf Society enjoyed a trip to Ballinrobe for their second outing of the year. Finian Conway jnr continued his good recent form to post the best score of the day, while another man enjoying some good results, Wilfred Bourke, finished in second place.
On 28th July, Castle Dargan hosts a family and friends day which promises to be a lot of fun with golf, food and music all on offer. The golf takes the form of a 2 ball scramble over 10 holes. Any combination of family or friends are welcome to play, for example, husband and wife, father and son etc. The cost is €15 per person, which is great value as this includes the golf, a barbecue, and music afterwards. Juniors are welcome to play at €10 each. Tee times are available at certain times only, so please book with the golf shop.
A notice to all members that the clubs annual fundraiser will take place on August 12th. This will be an open 3 person scramble with ladies and gents welcome to play, and is sponsored by Wassies Chipper and Inland Inflatables. The cost to enter is €75 per team, and all members are asked to make an effort to invite guests and make up a team for this important event in the golf clubs calendar.
Fixtures: On Saturday and Sunday the 1st and 2nd July, the Embassy are the sponsors for the weekends competitions. Saturday will see a Single Stableford taking place, while on Sunday, the next Golfer of the Year Event tees off in the form of a stroke play competition off the blue tees.
All Council members please note, the next meeting is scheduled for Thursday 19th July at 8.30pm.
The next presentation night takes place in Castle Dargan takes place next Friday, the 20th July at 9.00pm. All prize winners are asked to ensure their attendance on the night.
