'Jersey boys' on song for pre-season clash

IN WHAT is a new initiative in terms of pre-season preparations for Sligo Rovers, manager, Ian Baraclough, is taking his squad to Jersey in advance of the new League of Ireland season.

The panel will be in Jersey from Ferburay 6th-10th, attending a four day training camp and playing a match against the Jersey League representative side which is preparing for the UEFA Regions Cup in March.

Explained Baraclough: "The game in Jersey will be an important part of getting ready for the new campaign. The trip will allow us to get a lot of work done and to become closer as a group.

"Jersey are preparing for an important game in the Regions Cup so it will be a useful exercise for us"

Rovers have their first outing tomorrow evening when they take on the Sligo/Leitrim league selection at MacSharry Park (kick off 7.30pm) and follow that up with an away game against SD Galway in Terryland Park next Saturday (kick off, 2pm)

When they return from Jersey, they will face three friendly games away from home.

They play Athlone Town on Wednesday, February 13th (kick off 7.45pm), Ballinamallard United on Monday, February 18th (kick off 7.45pm) and Longford Town on Saturday, February 23rd (7.30pm)

Meanwhile, efforts are continuing to attract an English team to Sligo for a challenge game on the week-end of February 15th.

As the countdown to the new season gets into full swing, Rovers have already sold more season tickets for 2013 than for the entire campaign last year.

The Bit O'Red offer the lowest price in the Premier division for an under 12 season ticket through the Super Reds membership club which is available for €35, while Secondary School students can purchazse season tickets for €70. Thirdlevel student season ticket is the joint lowest in the division at €120.

In a new special offer, the club is giving away a 'Sligo Champions' DVD and a Champions t-shirt with season tickets purchased from January 21st.

This offer only applies to season tickets purchased in the Showgrounds, or from Se7en Meanswear in Quayside Shopping Centre who are the official stockists of Sligo Rovers merchandise.

Season tickets cost €230 for adults, €120 for students and OAPs and €70 for Secondary School students. Admission applies to all home League games in the Airtricity League Premier Division.
