It was an impressive team performance on a wet and dull morning. The boys seemed focused from the start and this was proven when Nathan Rooney played a superb kick pass from the midfield area into the full forward, Cian Lally, who powered it into the net for the game's first score in the third minute of the game

Summerhill gained two more points before the Rice College goalkeeper pulled off a fantastic double save to prevent another goal for Summerhill but Kyle Cawley managed to slot the ball the over the bar after a poor clearance from Rice College.

Rice College pulled one back with a free kick at the 20 minute mark to bring the score to 1-03 to 0-02. Summerhill responded with a goal when Sean Power played a long kick pass into the full forward line and Kyle Cawley latched on to the end of it, Cawley passed it off to Nathan Rooney who calmly finished it to score a goal. Kyle Cawley was on hand again to score a great point form distance. Rice College added two more points to their tally before halftime to bring the score line at the break to 2-04 to 0-04.

Rice College made a great start to the second half by scoring 3 points in quick succession but Summerhill responded with 3 points of their own, coming from Darren O'Hara, Kevin Banks and Nathan Rooney.

Rice College pilled on the pressure and scored another 2 points but Summerhill fought back once again and Adam Kerrigan produced a great point from distance which was followed up with another point from Sean Power. Rice College tried to force themselves back into the game in the last ten minutes and managed to get 3 points from open play but they could not break down Summerhills strong fullback line to get the goal that they desperately needed. Sean Bruen got the last score of the game with a well taken free-kick and it finished 2-10 to 0-11 in Summerhills favour.
