Tourlestrane manager,Eamonn Haran, Gerry McGowan and Johnn Marren celebrate at the final whistle

Eamonn Haran joins a small number of men who have won senior Championship medals as a player and a manager with Tourlestrane.

"There's nothing like winning a medal as a player," he said.

"But this comes close. Naturally, I'm delighted to have managed the club to the title but the real credit rests with the players"

He revealed that the plan for the year was hammered out at a meeting shortly after Christmas.

"We sat down and had a good chat about what we wanted to achieve," he explained. "It was to to get an idea of what everybody thought was possible.

"I knew leaving that meeting that the lads would give it everything they had this year.

"We wouldn't be over-confident or arrogant about it but we knew we'd have a great chance of winning silverware if we applied ourselves in the right way. And the lads responded brilliantly all year. They're a pleasure to work with and I couldn't have asked for any more from them".

The triumphant manager also had words of praise for Tubbercurry.

"They are a great team and we had to push oursleves all the way.

"It wasn't a flowing game but it was tough and physical.

"It's tough on Tubber but I'm sure they will come again"
