Despite playing against a stiff breeze, St. Mary's got off to a perfect start when Nathan Rooney fired to the net after a good move.

Conor Darcy stretched Mary's lead shortly afterwards but Tubber/Cloonacool were determined to make a game of it and hit back with points from Luke Gilmartin and Conal Ryan.

It was nip and tuck from there to the interval with the sides going in level at the break, St. Mary's 1-4; Tubber/Cloonacool 0-7

Mary's stepped up a gear in the second half with Rooney in particular making life difficult for the South Sligo side.

They quickly moved four points clear and went on to outscore their opponents 1-10 to 0-2 in the second period

Tubber/Cloonacool battled with great conviction throughout but their hopes of a late revival were were dealt a severe blow when Darren O'Hara grabbed Mary's second goal at the end of a brilliant flowing move.
