THE MODEL has been selected to play a leading role in celebrating the Arts Council's 60th year.
A mere four locations in Ireland have been chosen to host exhibitions.
Along with the Sligo venue, Cork's Crawford Gallery, Limerick's City Gallery and Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin will take part in the national showcase of visual arts.
The exhibitions, titled 'Into the Light', will start in December.
Séamus Kealy, Curator, said: "We are honoured to be one of four Irish Institutions hosting an exhibition that celebrates sixty years of achievement by the Arts Council.
"The Model will exhibit a selection of artwork from the collections of the Arts Council as well as from The Niland Collection.
"We will create an interesting blend of Irish artwork exploring themes of landscape, abstract art, craft and domesticity."
More than 100 artists will be showcased in the touring exhibition.
Séamus added: "With The Model's refurbished galleries since its redevelopment two years ago, it's the perfect location to house artwork of significant cultural value.
'Into the Light' opens on December 6th.
