Dear Madam,

It was with complete shock and horror that I read the front page article in the current edition of The Sligo Champion, pictured.

I found it necessary to read it twice in order to absorb the full horror of the situation.

What those residents have to endure on a continuous basis is horrendous.

I found it very interesting that the student union representative informed you that there was just one complaint.

THEY would seriously need to ask themselves why .

Obviously residents have long given up on reporting to them, clearly they haven't bothered to do anything about the situation.

They have to acknowledge that is the case or the elderly lady who informed us she was spat at that she is telling the truth.

I know I believe her and I'm in no doubt so do the readers of this paper. This situation cannot be allowed to continue .

I would urge Residents Committees throughout the town of Sligo to offer support to these long suffering people and I would ask Ms Scott and others in Sligo IT to take some responsibility for this appalling situation, after all they are the first point of contact when they enrol in the college.

Of course there are many decent respectable students attending the college who are a credit to their parents and will do well for themselves.

I would like to commend your paper for highlighting this appalling situation.

Yours,

DOORLY PARK RESTORATION

Dear Madam,

Last week we visited Doorly Park and the Riverside as part of our Personal Reflection class.

We admired the beautifully restored arch-way and the scenic walk along the river and through Doorly Park.

This is a credit to everyone who took part in The Sligo Champion 'Get Involved' project.

We would like to thank Sligo Borough Council, Sligo Tidy Towns and all the various groups and individuals for providing us with such an amazing nearby amenity we can enjoy every day.

Yours sincerely,

Shannon Mahon,

Leaving Certificate Applied One and Two.
