Drunk driving

A driver who drove while banned was given a three months jail term when he appeared at Sligo District Court.

Before the court was Michal Sedak, Clois In Bhearn, Markievicz Road who was arrested for drunk driving on July 19th.

A reading showed a concentration of 43 mgs of alcohol per 100 mls of breath.

The court was told he had been banned from driving in August 2011 for two years for not having insurance.

There was also an insurance conviction in 2010.

Mr. Eddie Henry, solicitor (defending) pleaded that on July 19th last the defendant was moving a van from Chapel Hill to St. Anne's when he was stopped at a checkpoint.

Judge Kevin Kilrane said the defendant could not have any more understanding from him.

"He has a string of convictions as long as his arm," said the Judge.

Sedak was jailed for three months and banned from driving for five years.

He was later released from custody after posting a surety for appeal purposes. Comments Facility
