800 RUNNERS are getting themselves ready to descend on Strandhill on Saturday 25th August for The 28th Annual Warriors Run. For the last 3 months the roads around Strandhill have been busy each evening as athletes test the route and prepare to take on the gruelling 15K Run that has become synonymous with the Village. Runners from all around Ireland, the UK, the USA and as far away as Australia will make their way to Strandhill for the 2012 Road and Hill Race which starts at 3pm. And it's all systems go for a great weekend, not just for runners, but for spectators too with live music, street entertainment and a funfair to entertain young and old on the day.

With a busy weekend in store there will be extensive traffic and parking restrictions on the day but as always Bus Eireann will be laying on extra services from Sligo to Strandhill and back throughout the day and night and the organisers are urging people to 'avoid the fuss and take the bus'.

Runners can collect their race packs in The Warriors Marquee on Friday August 24 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. and on Saturday August 25 between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. The Annual Fun Walk will take place at 3.30 p.m. and anyone wishing to take part in the Walk can register on the morning. The Warriors Junior Run will take place on Sunday 26th at the beachfront from 2pm onwards.
