GAVIN PEERS will definitely be back at the Showgrounds in 2013 so he can enjoy the winter months in the knowledge that his future is secure.
"It makes a huge difference to have my situation sorted out for next year," he agrees.
"It's obviously a worrying time for the lads who are out of contract but I'm lucky that I can relax and enjoy the winter break"
Gavin is looking forward to spending more time with his wife, Debi, and young son, Bradley, at the family base in Riverstown.
"We're well settled there now," he says.
"I'm one of the longest players at Rovers so, even though I'm a Dub through and through, I'm very happy in Sligo."
Gavin and Debi are travelling to Mexico later this month to attend the wedding of Rovers team mate, Richard Brush, and his girlfriend, Stacey McDonald.
"During the season, I don't get the chance to do a lot with my family.
"So it's nice to end the season by winning the League and then look forward to a nice long break.
"We usually try to fit in a winter holiday and this year we're going to Richard and Stacey's wedding in Mexico which shoud be great fun."
Rovers were struggling to survive when Gavin joined from Mansfield Town in 2006.
Now they're the best team in the country.
"It's been an amazing transformation on and off the pitch" he says.
"Next year, we have the Champions League to look forward to but, for now, I'm just going to enjoy a well-earned break."
