TENANTS in an Enniscrone estate say they have been given assurances they will be given time to find alternative accommodation during the sale of properties.

The houses at Ocean View are being sold by receivers KPMG on behalf of Ulster Bank.

While the estate is mainly occupied by permanent residents, there are a small number of houses in rental accommodation.

One tenant, Noel O'Boyle, who lives in Ocean View with his wife and two children, said: "We are being allowed stay while the houses are on the market.

"I've talked to Auctioneer Roger McCarrick and we are being treated very fairly.

"We are trying to find another house and are happy enough to do that.

"We are okay to stay in our house while potential buyers might view it."

Signs have been erected in the estate declaring 'KPMG-No House For Sale.'

Another resident said: "Tenants have no rights in these situations.

"If they were mortgage holders with a mortgage on the family home, the Government would tell the banks to negotiate a deal."

Meanwhile, an application for an ex-parte injunction by the owner of three properties to remove a number of individuals from houses at Tower Hill, Ballymote, was refused by Judge Doirbhile Flanagan at the Circuit Court in Sligo last Wednesday.

Mr Hugh Adams represented himself.

He is now expected to return with a fresh application at the next sittings on March 25th.
