AN EMPLOYEE of Dunnes Stores admitted at Sligo District Court to stealing a sales representative's computer.
Kenneth Foley, Larkhill Woods, Strandhill Road pleaded guilty to the theft of the Samsung tablet on September 11th last at Dunnes Stores, Cranmore Road.
He also admitted taking a crate of Corr's Light beer on October 13th from the store to the value of €12.99.
Inspector Paul Kilcoyne told the court the defendant took the computer after the sales representative had left it down temporarily.
The matter came to light when Gardai were called to the store on October 13th when he had taken the beer.
Foley was asked if there was anything else he had taken.
He then brought the Gardai to his home where the computer was handed over.
The defendant, who didn't have any previous convictions, said he was hoping to enrol in college.
He apologised for the incidents and said he wasn't in his right frame of mind.
Judge Kevin Kilrane fined Foley €100 for the computer theft and took the other charge into account.
