A SLIGO woman scooped a prize after she flew on a historic flight to Shannon from the US.
Shannon Airport celebrated becoming an independent entity on New Year's Eve and decided to celebrate by giving passengers free flights.
Dervilla Donohoe from Rosehill, along with her husband, Frank was among the first passengers to transit through the newly autonomous airport.
Mrs. Donohoe won two return Aer Lingus tickets to the US courtesy of the airline, along with complimentary car-parking and access to the airport's executive lounge.
Shannon officially became independent at 11.59pm on December 31.
Mary Considine, airport Director, said: "Our attention will immediately focus on growing passenger numbers at Shannon.
"We have an excellent start thanks to significant announcements on transatlantic and European services."
