She retired last week after 42 years service with a surprise present from the 'Bit O'Red.'

Helen was in the Mayor's Parlour for a civic reception by Clr Marcella McGarry to honour Rovers' Setanta Cup victory.

The Ballisodare woman was called forward to be told by Manager Ian Baraclough: "Be our special guest at our home Europa Cup game in July."

Helen said: "I never expected it. I was caught totally on the hop.

"Yes, I have been supporting Rovers all my life-in the good times and bad."

Helen-who worked in the Administration staff at City Hall-retired on Friday, 42 years to the day she first started.

Mayor McGarry paid tribute to her "outstanding service" to the Borough Council.

There was also another surprise in store for second Rovers stalwart.

Padraig Burke received a special presentation to mark his 74th birthday. He said he was also "surprised" by the gift.
