Perry opens new Teagasc centre

A NEWLY extended and renovated Teagasc Training Centre in Ballymote has been officially opened.

The Ballymote office is headquarters for the Sligo, Letirim and Donegal region.

It is one of the most important centres in the country for education.

Sligo/ North Leitrim Junior Minister John Perry performed the opening.

Deputy Perry said: "Agriculture is one of the important indigenous sectors of the economy, providing steady jobs."

"It contributes to the economic activity in rural areas and provides the country with much needed valuable export earnings."

Teagasc Director, Professor Gerry Boyle, said: "the numbers of young people studying agriculture continue to increase with new students in Teagasc run courses on the up."
