A MAN who was "nipped by a dog" while walking home intoxicated began banging on doors nearby.
Sligo District Court heard that Remigiusz Borowicz of Market Close, Market Yard wanted to inform the dog's owner what had happened.
"The dog was lucky it wasn't nipped by him," remarked Judge Kevin Kilrane.
Inspector Colm Nevin said Gardai received a report on August 27th of a man kicking the door of a house at Crozon Park.
Intoxicated Borowicz was shouting and swearing and told the Gardai to "foff" and asked them what their problem was. Ms. Deirdre Munnelly, solicitor (defending), pleaded that Borowicz was "on a binge of sorts" for a couple of days.
This was after he had broken up with his girlfriend.
He was returning home after drinking in a friend's house when the incident with the dog occurred.
"He took it on himself to inform the owner," said Ms. Munnelly.
The case was adjourned to June 20th for monitoring.
Judge Kilrane said he would impose a fine only on that date if there were no further incidents.
