New link with Sligo and Northern Ireland

A NEW project is to create links between people in Sligo and three Northern Ireland towns.

The 'Sligo CAN Connect' programme will be developed and delivered over the next year.

It will create links between Sligo, Carrickfergus, Antrim and Newtownabbey.

There will be a series of themed visits between the areas on policing, young people, peacebuilding and local historical connections.

Chairperson of Sligo Peace and Reconciliation Partnership Committee, Dorothy Clarke said: "Developing cross-border connections with the CAN area is an important element of our PEACE III Phase II action plan."
