Mobile phone

A BELTRA man who told Judge Kevin Kilrane at Sligo Court that he had not received a fixed penalty notice was fined €60 for holding a mobile phone while driving.

Peter Foley, Ballinleg, Beltra, had initially been fined €100 for the offence at Ballisodare on April 5th.

However, Judge Kilrane reduced the fine when Foley turned up to tell him that all his mail was delivered to his parent's home as he was renting elsewhere.

Bank statements, etc., went to his parents place, but he had never received the fixed penalty notice.

Judge Kilrane said the arrangement was most unsatisfactory.

Foley told Inspector Paul Kilcoyne that Garda Pat Ruddy had taken down his address from his driving licence.
