A total of 665,000 travellers used Ireland West Knock last year, making it the second busiest year since the airport opened in 1986.
This year it is hoped to exceed the 700,000 mark for the first time.
Sligo also benefitted highly, with more than 50,000 visitors using the airport to travel here.
The airport is now serving 25 international destinations.
Joe Gilmore, Managing Director, said: ""We are looking forward to the year ahead being the busiest year in the airport's history with four new services being launched, extra capacity on our key London services and the Wild Atlantic Way project getting underway.
"We hope the Wild Atlantic Way initiative will be a major tourism success story for the region."
