ONE OF Sligo's oldest housing schemes is to get a €1.5 million redevelopment.
Twenty new two- and three-bedroomed houses are to be built at Fr Flanagan Terrace. They will be constructed on a site where a number of units were previously demolished.
Sligo Borough Council has been informed by the Department of the Environment that an additional allocation has been made under the Social Housing Investment Scheme to fund the development.
The Council previously received €8,234, 837 under the programme.
In a report to last night's meeting of the Borough Council, Acting Director of Services, Paula R. Gallagher, confirmed that preliminary approval had been obtained from the Department for the redevelopment work.
Once full approval is obtained, it's expected construction will commence towards the end of 2013.
