There was certainly theatre with a difference in Sligo at the weekend.

There was certainly theatre with a difference in Sligo at the weekend.

The Blue Raincoat Theatre Company brought the drama to the outdoors, Cumeen Strand to be precise.

Six actors and two musicians performed the critically acclaimed On Baile's Strand, by WB Yeats.

A crowd of 350 people arrived, some by tractor, to watch the play, which began around 1pm.

Thankfully, the tide was out for the performance in the spectacular setting.

Last year, the company staged Purgatory on the top of Knocknarea, which received rave reviews.

On Baile's Strand, which made its debut London's Abbey Theatre, follows Cuchulainn fall from grace and into eventual madness after he is forced to kill his son.
