Whether John Perry retains his job as Minister for Small Business is expected to be announced today.
The Cabinet decision is likely to result in the creation of another Minister of State porfolio, with responsibility for rural affairs.
Mr Perry survived a political onslaught last year following a commercial court judgement against him in relation to a €2.47m debt to Danske Bank.
The junior minister then struck a deal to restructure the debt.
Mr Perry is one of two exisiting ministers under the jobs minister, Richard Bruton.
When contacted by the Sligo Champion yesterday, Minister Perry said that he had no comment to make.
He was at the launch of a local enterprise office in Ennis.
