Christmas trees to be recycled

WONDERING what to do with your Christmas tree now that you've taken it down?

Recycle it... that's the message from Sligo County Council.

The Ballisodare composting facility at Young's Quarry, is now taking used Christmas trees for a charge of €5.

The trees are processed and turned into a peat-free compost, which is then sold to the public.

The facility is operated by Ballisodare Community Council in conjunction with the County Council.

Opening hours are Tuesday to Friday 10.00am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm to 4.00pm and Saturday from 10.00am to 2.00pm.

The Green Star civic amenity centre at Deepwater Quay is also taking Christmas trees for a charge of €5.
