BIRDWATCHERS from Sligo have reported sightings of large numbers of geese from Greenland.
The birds can be seen in Ballysadare Bay and Sligo Harbour. A flock of several thousand Barnacle Geese can also be seen in fields adjoining Drumcliff bay.
Birdwatching workshop weekends will be held in November and January.
Expert Rob Wheeldon will deliver lectures and organise filed trips.
He said: "There are some 42 species that one can reasonably expect to see on a weekend in Sligo, including ducks, geese, swans, divers, gulls and waders. "
