AbbVie in Sligo has been officially recognised as one of Ireland's Best Workplaces.

This prestigious accolade was presented at the Great Place to Work Awards in Dublin recently.

AbbVie, which has two sites in Sligo at Manorhamilton Road and in Ballytivnan, was listed among the 20 best large workplaces in Ireland.

It was the first time that AbbVie, which separated from Abbott in January 2013, had participated in the Great Place to Work assessment.

Manorhamilton Road Site Director Jim O'Regan said: "At AbbVie we believe that developing people-led strategies are essential to delivering the high levels of collaboration which promote innovation and productivity.

"A business that encourages employees to take ownership of their organisation's culture is what creating and sustaining highly-engaged workplaces is all about."

The awards event was attended by An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny T.D., who congratulated all of this year's winners on their commitment to creating great workplaces.

AbbVie is a global, research-based biopharmaceutical company formed in 2013 following separation from Abbott Laboratories.
