Whiz kids set for maths marathon

KIDS OF all ages are invited to take part in a mathaton this Saturday, November 24.

The two hour event, organised by the Kumon study centre, will be held in the Model, Sligo from 11am.

Children don't need to be a whizz kid at maths – the fun sums challenge is open to those of all abilities.

Organisers said: "Children will complete as many sums as they can in ten minutes with the aim of completing the most correct sums in their category.

"Children will complete sums which they should find easy, giving them a chance to exercise their concentration, stamina and focus.

"This is a great confidence boost for children as they swiftly complete the easy sums, knowing they have the skills required for more complex work."

This free event is open to all children in the community as well students who study the Kumon programmes at the Sligo Study Centre.

At the Mathathon, families can also speak to the centre staff to find out more about the Kumon Maths and English Programmes.

For more information about the Kumon Method, or the Mathathon event, please contact Martina Mc Closkey on 071 9147085.
