Local cycling club Innisfree Wheelers are starting a six week programme aimed at both beginners and improved cyclists.

The bike for life challenge starts on Wednesday, August 6th at the Carraroe car park.

Martin Keville of Innisfree Wheelers said that it is a chance for beginners to improve their skills.

"We are hoping to get a lot of beginners in it for the fun factor and we will bring them up to 60KM levels.

"We will be meeting in Carraroe and covering various routes."

Pedalling techniques, cadence and the use of gears will be taught. It costs €30 and the first on August 6th at 6.45pm.

"We are organising a 200KM and 100Km Sportif, based around Manorhamilton.

"It's called the Yeats County Tour. Routes go through Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon and Fermanagh, with nine climbs throughout."
