JOE Leonard's hip replacement has earned €7,416 for North West Hospice!

Joe held a 'Nuts and Bolts Hip Hop Party' in Foley's Bar, Tubbercurry.

He wanted to raise much needed funds for the Hospice following his operation.

The event included an Auction and a Question and Answer session with local politicians.

There was also a bucket collection on the streets of the South Sligo town.

One of the organisers Trevor Matthews said: "The idea came from Joe after his hip replacement.

"It turned out to be a huge success.

"The local politicians, Foley's Bar and all local business who donated prizes for the auction made it the success it was.

"So too did all those who supported the night.

"We are all very proud of how much we raised for a brilliant cause.

"We hope to make this an annual event."

The cheque was handed over to Bernadette McGarvey, Community Relations Manager with North West Hospice.

Bernadette said: "This was a fantastic fundraiser.

"We wish to thank Trevor Matthews, Denis Quinn, Declan Gallagher and Michael Foley for organising it.

"We are also very grateful to local businesses and all those who supported the event."
