THE Tubbercurry community is hoping to come together to re-open a children's playground.
The playground next to the Family Resource Centre was closed late last year, due to anti-social behaviour.
The decision was taken to close the community playgroundprotect young children from injury as a result of broken glass, equipment, etc.
Now, a public meeting may be called to discuss the situation.
A spokesperson for the FRC said: "If the community wants to hold such a meeting, we will see what can be done.
"For now, the playground remains closed."
Eddie McCarrick, Sinn Féin local election candidate in Ballymote/ Tubbercurry has called for immediate remedial work and upgrading to start.
He also wants the installation of CCTV.
Mr McCarrick said:
"Funding should be sought from Europe via the LEADER programme.
"We need to ensure the younger children in the area are not unfairly denied the right to enjoy a wonderful amenity by a small minority."
