This year's South Sligo Summer School is just the place to start.

As preparations for the 28th annual School continue, details of a new workshop have just been announced.

Music teacher Fiona Doherty will conduct mixed instrument classes for adults all week.

Fiona said: "The workshop will appeal to beginners and improvers.

It will also appeal to those who played music as a child and want to continue again."

Fiona is from a strong musical family from Charlestown.

She has been teaching music classes in Gurteen, Riverstown and Sligo, since 2005.

She has been teaching at the Summer School since 2002.

This year's event features a host of music, song and dance.

Each day includes a packed programme.

Visitors from all over the world will travel to Tubbercurry to take part. There's a Grand Traditional Concert in the Holy Family NS on Friday, July 18th.

A 'farewell' open session is to be held on The Square the following day, with a Ceili later in St Brigid's Hall.
