Sligo's car parks will be free to motorists for two hours each morning for the next two weeks in a bid to boost local business.
The initiative is being promoted by the Borough Council.
It started last Sunday and will end on Saturday, March 1st.
It will operate in several car parks from 10am to 12 noon every day.
There'll be free parking in the following car parks: Quay Street, Wine Street, Adelaide Street, Stephen Street, The Mall, and Abbey Street.
The Council is hoping it will encourage residents and visitors to drop into the city for a morning visit.
Sligo Chamber welcomed the move saying it should help get people into town.
CEO Paul Keyes said: "We would like to acknowledge the support of local councillors who approved it in the annual budget and the executive for the swift response in implementing it."
The parking initiative has also been welcomed by Clr Jim McGarry.
He said: "As elected representatives, we are very aware of the struggles the business community in Sligo are facing at present.
"We are ever conscious that we need to keep the town centre active and busy.
"I am hopeful that this initiative will form the basis of a marketing campaign by the business community to encourage visitors to the City."
He said the period covers the school mid-term break when some people will have more time to visit the city.
