First Darkness into Light set for this May

The popular Darkness into Light events, which raise vital funds for Pieta House, is being organised for the first time in Ballymote this May.

The early morning walk/run has been a huge success across the country since it was first established with thousands of people taking part.

Its aim is to raise awareness about mental health issues and self harming.

The Ballymote Darkness into Light is setting off from Coláiste Muire Secondary School Gym at 4:15am on Saturday, May 6th.

Registration is now open and the numbers taking part is expected to be large for the inaugural event. Those interested in signing up for the Ballymote Darkness into Light should visit www.dil.pieta.ie to register.

A poster competition was held in local schools recently promoting the fundraiser.

Bunninadden and Coláiste Muire were the winners.

On May 6th, Darkness into Light events will be held in more than 150 venues on four continents to raise awareness of positive mental health.

Pieta House was founded in Lucan more than a decade ago and now has eight centres around the country, helping thousands of people in distress or self harming.
