Drumcliffe: all the news
A big thank you to everyone who supported the Oxfield Halloween Party for kids, which went down a 'treat' last Wednesday evening. Every character and creature imaginable seemed to be there, so congrats to all the kids and the parents on all the great costumes. Thanks also to DJ Michael 'Mario' Farrell, to those who loaned their playhouses for the 'trick-or-treat' village, and of course to our trusty team of volunteers for all their time and effort.
The CosCos Group would like to say a big thanks to all the participants and volunteers who supported the recent Rathcormac 8km Fun Walk and Run.
The results of the October Draw of the Oxfield 500 Club, which was held in Henrys Bar and Restaurant in Caashelgarron, are as follows: 1st - Charlie & Catherine Kelly €500; 2nd - Joe Shannon €200; 3rd - Gerry Ferguson €100; 4th - Maureen Ntamina €100; 5th - Derek & Avril West €100; 6th - Niall Considine €100 SuperValu Voucher.
Congrats to all the winners and thanks again to Mattie and his staff at Henrys for hosting the draw. Thanks also to Brian Drury who acted as independent observer. Don't forget, the final draw takes place on Friday November 30th in the Yeats Tavern, where someone will win the top prize of €10,000!
Walk or jog?
Evening walking and jogging under the floodlights at the Oxfield Community Park continues every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30pm to 10pm. A donation of €15 will cover all evening walkers until April 2013 (to cover the costs of running the lights etc). Paul Kerrigan will be on hand to collect monies, and all those who pay up will be entered in a draw to win a great prize on the run up to Christmas.
For Club and Country - The Making of a Sports Hero is a hilarious new play by Seamus O Rourke of Moth Productions, Cavan (see www.themothmagazine.com), which will play Rathcormac Hall on Thursday November 15th. Tickets are on sale at €10 a piece from Geraldine Gibbons at 087 2338987.
If anyone would like to fill a shoebox with Christmas gifts for distribution to needy children in Eastern Europe, please contact Liz McGowan in Carney on 086 3046422.
