'Some people call it old men's marbles'

First, they renovated their hall in Bunninadden.

Now a local bowling club is flourishing in the building.

And last Thursday, it invited six members of the Tubbercurry bowling club for a game.

Club member Geoff King said: "We started it about six or seven months ago and it is very successful.

"Some people call it old men's marbles.

"Fintan Scanlon, who is about 25, is our youngest member."

Bunninadden bowling club has about 12 members.

They play on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2pm to 4pm.

On Saturdays from 2-4pm, they hold a special session for children.

Thursday last marked a special occasion for the club.

It was the first time for it to play on its newly-arrived second bowling mat, which costs about €8,000.

Meanwhile, table tennis is also popular at the newly renovated hall, which now has 10 tables.
