Scooting to school! Pupils at St Brendan's NS took part in a new initiative last week.

It was An Taisce's first national Green Schools 'Scoot on Wednesdays/ Scoot on Weekdays' event.

Apart from scooters, St Brendan's pupils also cycled and walked to school.

Some even travelled on their skateboards and roller blades.

St Brendan's started working on the Green Schools travel programme last September with Lisa McDaniel, Education Officer with the Environmental Unit, An Taisce.

The campaign at the school has been led by Green Schools co-ordinator, Lorraine Keane.

Lorraine said: "The pupils, parents and grandparents made a fantastic effort.

"It was great to see all the children so excited arriving to school."
