Patricia's design is turning heads

A SLIGO designer is among nine people shortlisted for the DIT Fashion Show taking place on Thursday.

Patricia Carroll from Carraroe is a final year fashion student in the National College of Art and Design.

She said: "The brief for the project was nature, so I began looking at weeping willow trees and came up with an elegant, tall, structural piece."

Patricia's design also depicts the drooping branches sweeping the ground.

She sourced some of the material from the Crafters Basket in Cliffoney and she used leatherette material as part of the dense fabric.

She added: "I always liked the making of clothes and using different patterns."

The finals are taking place in Vicar Street on Thursday.

The overall winner receives €2500.

Brendan Courtney, TV presenter and Bairbre Power, fashion editor Irish Independent are among the judges.
