THIRTY-TWO-year-old Shane Scully from Ballymote knows all about the benefits of the SEED Programme.

As a slow learner, he has found it has helped him in a number of ways.

He has already taken part in one 10-week SEED course. He's now half way through another.

He said: "It's about getting people back into the workforce.

"I found it brilliant. I found it really, really good."

Among the topics covered during the courses are preparation of CVs, cover letters, grammar and film and sound.

Shane added: "I am looking for a job now but I feel the course helped me to do that.

"It gave me more confidence."

He said he heard about the course through his sister Nicola.

She had been talking to SEED Programme Development Officer Kathy McGettrick.

Now comes the real task: getting a job. "I would like to do hotel work," Shane said.
