THEY are billed as one of the toughest endurance events in the country and Sligo will host one this October.
The Temple House estate in Ballymote will be the venue for a Hell and Back 10k event that will test the ability of participants to the limit.
The increasingly popular adventure races are a combination of assault and obstacle courses combined with running over tough terrain.
Roderick Perceval, Temple House owner, said: "We're delighted to be involved and we're very much looking forward to it. It's a new departure for us but the estate is the ideal venue for such an event."
The 'Hercules' will take place in Temple House on Saturday October 11th.
Times are unimportant in these type of races with emphasis laid on finishing the challenging course. Participants are advised they will get wet, mucky, cold and sore.
Features in such events include wall and rope climbs, running whilst carrying sandbags, rope ladder climbs and scaling high wooden walls.
Indivdual or team entries are now open for the event.
