American-born Megan is new Model director
The Model has a new director. She is Megan Johnston, a curator, educator and writer. She comes to The Model from Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She will take up her position on September 1st.
Johnston was lecturer at the Minneapolis College of Art & Design and an independent curator.
For nearly 20 years, she has worked in leading museums and galleries, both in Ireland and the US.
She has curated more than 300 artists' projects internationally. She was director of the Millennium Court, Portadown, for six years.
Acting Director Emer McGarry said: "On behalf of the team here at The Model, we are very much looking forward to working with Megan."
Johnston was born in 1969 in St Paul, Minnesota.
She received her BA in Modernism and Feminism from the University of Minnesota.
Her MA in Visual Culture from the University of Ulster investigated Orange Order subculture in Northern Ireland. She is currently finalising a PhD.
